Depression 101 (not by an expert, only by experience)
In life, we will experience the good life and the not so good life, and yes it hurts, we cry and we get angry. This is a part of coping with adversity. Depression comes in many forms and can become very severe. Here are three simple steps that helped me with depression.
First, start with identifying the symptoms.
- Crying
- Anger
- Sadness
- Loss of appetite
- Overeating
- Mood swings
- Hopelessness
- Withdrawing from family & friends
Second, identify the triggers that can cause the symptoms. I won’t name them all, but you know this list can be very very long.
- Annual death of a loved one
- Holidays
- Heartbreak
- Any form of abuse
- Job loss
- Insufficient income
- Poverty
- Homelessness
- Divorce
- Rejection
Third, get help privately from your local church, a licensed psychiatrist or from a close friend or relative and allow yourself to be vulnerable to talk about anything with someone you can trust.
Get the help you need today, reach out. You can heal. Sometimes you have to rely on the strength of others to be the strength for someone else.
I cherish the people in my circle.
Mom, Erica, Carlia, Kele, Bre, Sir Princeton, Annette, Ida B., Ramar, Josh, Marq, Ché, Dion, Eduard, Joemeika, my church family, my Anjel, IMS & Jerri W. Many thanks & Blessings upon you. 🌹
